About Chef Katie

Whisk is my passion project, offering virtual and in-person cooking classes that build culinary confidence in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Whisk is the realization of a lifelong passion for empowering others to discover the joy of cooking. For years, I have been dedicated to helping individuals build culinary confidence by teaching them the skills and techniques necessary to create and improvise in the kitchen, rather than simply following recipes. I am thrilled to now bring this passion to life through both virtual and in-person cooking classes. Together, we will focus on developing your culinary abilities in a relaxed, supportive environment—where making mistakes, asking questions, and embracing the learning process are all part of the journey.

I am a proud graduate of Johnson & Wales University, where I earned an A.A.S. in Culinary Arts. My love for cooking began at a young age, standing by my mother’s side as she effortlessly prepared beautiful dinner parties and family meals. A graduate of culinary school herself, my mother ignited my culinary journey and continues to inspire my passion for food and teaching, primarily through her Italian heritage.

During my time at culinary school, I had the incredible opportunity to intern with America’s Test Kitchen (ATK) in Brookline, MA. It was truly a dream come true to work in one of the most renowned professional test kitchens in the world. Throughout the summer, I assisted with test cooking, focusing primarily on preparing mise en place. One of my standout experiences was testing their “Our Favorite Chili” recipe—an endeavor I must have repeated close to 50 times (though it certainly felt that way!). To this day, I prepare that chili a few times a year for my family, and it’s always met with rave reviews.

I currently live in a wonderful neighborhood with my husband and three athletic boys, who are very involved in youth sports.
